Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend

Clare Valley

The Clare Valley food and wine region is surprisingly large in area, from north of Burra down to the Barossa in the south and York Peninsula in the west. The focal point, however, is around the town of Clare and the villages south to the town of Auburn. The premier annual event is the 'Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend' held in May, which started in the early 1980s, and is the first food and wine event of it's kind in Australia. In April the town of Rhynie holds 'A Taste of Good Things' which is promoted as " a line up of great regional food matched with local Clare Valley wines". Clare also has the regular 'Clare Valley Food, Wine and Art Market'.

Clare & Surrounds Tasting Tour

Author: Taste Trails

Created 18th Apr, 2014

The Clare Valley is not only a stunningly scenic part of South Australia but also deceptively spread out. This results in a range of growing conditions, rainfall and soils. The benefit is an appealing variety of produce with distinctive flavours and tastes depending on the growing location. On this trail there is an olive grove in the south, vineyards in the middle and a cider apple orchard in the north.
