Ord River crop, Kununurra

North West

This area is comprised of all of Western Australia north of the Tropic of Capricorn, and stretches from Onslow and Karijini National Park in the south-west to Kununurra in the north-east near the Northern Territory border. The North West is home to The Kimberley and Pilbara. There are no wine regions, but various foods are grown especially around Kununurra and it's associated Ord River scheme, where mangoes, pumpkins, melons, bananas and citrus thrive. The food potential for this area is enormous with fresh water in the Ord River dam more than nine times the capacity of Sydney harbour.
