Snowy Mountains & Canberra

This large southern area contains the wine regions of Tumbarumba and Canberra District. The national capital Canberra, which is geographically within NSW, has a lively food and wine scene. Major events include 'The Canberra International Riesling Challenge' (October), including a public tasting, the month-long 'Fireside Festival' (August), the 'Craft Beer & Cider Festival' (April) and the 'Canberra & Capital Region Truffle Festival' (June-July), including a truffle hunt. Tumbarumba's 'Tumbafest' in February is a food, wine and music celebration. Also of note is the popular Murrumbateman Farmers Market, held twice a month.
