Beautiful Margaret River

South West - Margaret River

This famous wine and food region juts out from the surrounding coastline with Cape Naturaliste in the north and Cape Leeuwin in the south. The eastern boundary runs southwards from near Busselton to Flinders Bay near Augusta. The town of Margaret River is geographically in the middle of the region, and home no many enticing events, such as the 'Margaret River Gourmet Escape' in November, and the 'South West Beer Festival' in February. The town of Yallingup is host to the three day 'Undalup Djilba Indigenous Food Festival' in Setember. Visitors can stock up on local fresh produce at the Vasse and Margaret River Markets.

Eddie McDougall's Margaret River Favourites

Author: Eddie McDougall

Created 12th Jan, 2016

Visit Margaret River for its beautiful boutique wineries and stunning views. The wines from this region are equally as unique as their winemakers.

Deep Woods Estate: If you are after some of Australia's most exciting collection of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rosé blends then you must stop off at this 32 hectare (80 acres) property. The estate is perched high on a ridge that unfolds into a secluded valley bounded by stands of jarrah and marri trees, hence the name Deep Woods. A large natural spring, dense woodlands and spectacular views surround the winery, its vineyard and cellar door. This is surely one of the region's most scenic winery that is best visited with a glass of rosé in hand.

Voyager Estate: When it comes to manicured landscape gardens, this estate has one of the most beautiful plots in the country. The estate is also home to a tastefully decorated tasting room and restaurant that sources local produce to pair with its award winning wines, like its Shiraz. Willing to cater to every luxury need and gastronomic desire, Voyager is an excellent choice for a glamorous event or function.

Cullen Winery: Considered a cult producer specialising in making wines with Bio-dynamical grown grapes. The long established producer is one of Australia's most inspirational winemaking success stories with only one goal in mind: make the country’s best wines. Their range of classical Bordeaux inspired reds and whites wines are what they do best. If you are a fan of a scrumptious and oaked Chardonnay, try the Diana Madeline Cabernet—it’s a cut above many others in the region.
