Travelling through Tasmania? Here are my favourite Tasmanian wineries that you must visit.
Moorilla: A must visit for anyone that lands on the tarmac of Tasmania. Located close to the city centre of Hobart, this state of the art winery, brewery, restaurant and modern art gallery should not be missed. You can easily spend an entire blissful day grazing, dreaming and sampling their fine wines, like their Chardonnay. Music festivals are also held at the estate so keep an eye on their calendar.
Frogmore Creek: A newer and smaller producer, but one that has made sound waves across the Mainland cities’ fine dining restaurants and wine bars. Exceptionally focused with an elegant style of wines produced from Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Its cellar door provides an inviting, family vibe that is more than welcoming. Domaine A: One of the island's most internationally recognised winemakers. A producer that has stepped outside the norm and instead, focuses on making Bordeaux style wines. A cool climate expression makes the wines from this winery incredibly unique to most full-bodied Australian reds. Try the Cabernet Sauvignon Blend and all your preconceived notions of generic Aussie wines will be gone.
Freycinet Vineyard: A trip to Wine Glass Bay is never complete without a stop at this winery's cellar door. Considered as the pioneer of the Apple Island, Freyicinet is all about producing high end Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sparkling. The wines are generally more expensive across the board but undoubtedly sing quality beyond the norm. Try the Pinot Noir.
Joseph Chromy: Just a short drive away from the centre of Launceston city. With its picturesque location, this winery has an award-winning restaurant to match. Why not try its range of wine, choose any from classical Burgundian style to some classy sparkling wines.

Moorilla offers a wine experience including MONA, cellar door, restaurant, and event spaces making it unparalleled as an experience of wine, food, scenery and culture in Australia. Three styles of wine showcase Tasmanian wine making and terroir.

The vineyard at Frogmore Creek was first established in 1988 resulting in a ten hectare area around the winery, which is kindly treated by the mild condtions resulting from it's close proximity to Barilla Bay. There is a larger 45 hectare vineyard at Campania. The winery is home to a stable of four brands...Frogmore Creek, Meadowbank, Storm Bay and Forty Two Degrees South.
105 Tea Tree Road, Campania, 7026
Established in 1973, the historic Stoney Vineyard is the oldest in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Just half an hour's drive from the city of Hobart, the 11ha single vineyard domaine is owned and operated by H. Peter and Ruth Althaus. Varieties grown include red grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir and the white grape Sauvignon Blanc.
15919 Tasman Highway, Apslawn, 7190
Freycinet Vineyard was the first commercial winery to be established on the east coast of Tasmania, with the first vines being planted in 1979 by founding owners Geoff and Susan Bull. It is now a 15 hectare vineyard, with it's sheltered and north facing aspect providing ideal conditions for fine elegant but powerful wines. Freycinet Vineyard is also home to the Wineglass Bay Brewing Company, as well as an olive grove.
370 Relbia Road, Relbia, 7250
Josef Chromy is a sixty hectare vineyard site delivering both exquisite table and sparkling wines, and providing one of the most memorable food and wine experiences in Tasmania. The winemaking focus is all about balance and the ability to marry fruit, natural acidity, structure, tannin and texture. There is a cellar door, restaurant and function facilities.
