Eddie McDougall's Hunter Valley Favourites

Not only is Hunter Valley full of scenic wineries and vineyards, but it's also where many iconic winemakers call home.

Domaine de Binet: A James Halliday awarded vineyard and winery, this wine producer has the Midas touch when it comes to experiences and presenting delicious wines. With quirky and experimental with its grape varietals, Domaine de Binet is a must see stop in the heart of the Hunter.

Brokenwood: Home of the iconic winemaker and producer of the famous Graveyard Shiraz. The ILR Semillon is a multiple award winner. The winery’s cellar door is simple, friendly and educational. If you go to the Hunter Valley and don't sample these wines then you haven't been there at all. Try the ILR Semillon ASAP.

Tyrrell’s: A legend in the wine world who's focus is on estate fine wines namely from the Semillon grape. Settled and established in the region in 1858, this trail stop is historically significant and thoroughly Australian. Try the Vat 1 Semillon.

De Iuliis Wines: A family estate with a collection of regionally expressive wines. The Semillon and Shiraz are its front-runners. The estate also has a quaint little restaurant that offers some European delights along with some a great selection of cheeses. Go for the boutique experience with an edge of the friendly Ma and Pop hospitality.
